Charity is Contagious. I, Joseph Pantaleo, have never been more proud of a group of people coming together and making good things happen. This is how I feel about going to Colombia. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by the families of the staff in the office… there was nothing but love.
After seeing the work done in other areas of the world, Dr. Pantaleo’s staff members asked for his help in starting a mission trip to their country of origin. We met with a priest in the outskirts of Bogota, Colombia. He provided service for the poor. He welcomed our presence and assistance in his community. Our next stop was Buenaventura, Colombia where we met with a doctor who runs a clinic managed by the Colombian Government. Similar to our Medicaid system, most patients cannot afford a $2, $3, or $4 co-pay. Dr. Pantaleo took two days and did all the work that any patient could not afford, for free. The final stop was in Medellin. There, the Tomorrow’s Smile Today team met up with local Colombians who could manage shipments, locations, housing and food for when the team of doctors return to Colombia. We plan on going back to Bogota and Cali in the Spring of 2017.
